Legal, privacy, safety and service policies for Gyan Setu.

These policies explain how Gyan Setu handles parent enquiries, tutor applications, student information, WhatsApp communication, safety expectations, fees, disputes and legal responsibilities for home tuition support in Kanpur.

Terms of Service

These terms define Gyan Setu as a home tuition facilitation service and set practical limits around tutor matching, academic outcomes, payments, communication and user conduct.

Acceptance

By visiting the website, calling Gyan Setu, sending a WhatsApp message, submitting a parent enquiry, applying as a tutor or continuing any service-related communication, you acknowledge these Terms of Service, the Privacy Policy and the policies on this page.

If you do not agree with these terms, you should not use the website, submit an enquiry, apply as a tutor, share contact details or continue service-related communication with Gyan Setu.

Nature of service

Gyan Setu is a Kanpur-based home tuition facilitation and coordination service. We help parents and guardians share a tuition requirement and may help connect them with suitable tutor options based on class, subject, board, area, timing, availability and learning need.

Gyan Setu is not a school, college, university, examination board, government body, employment agency, recruitment agency, guarantee provider, child-care centre, transport provider, payment escrow service or emergency service.

Independent tutors

Unless Gyan Setu expressly confirms otherwise in writing, tutors are independent individuals or independent service providers. Tutors are not employees, agents, partners, legal representatives or franchisees of Gyan Setu.

Tutors control their own teaching method, preparation, schedule, travel, conduct, materials and commitments. Gyan Setu may assist with coordination and basic service support, but does not control every act, omission, statement or promise made by an independent tutor.

No guarantee

Gyan Setu may try to identify suitable tutor options, but does not guarantee that every enquiry will result in a tutor, demo, fixed schedule, preferred fee, preferred location, preferred qualification, long-term continuation or immediate availability.

Academic progress depends on student effort, attendance, practice, school curriculum, exam pattern, parent support, tutor-student fit, health, timing and consistency. Gyan Setu does not guarantee marks, ranks, board results, exam success, admission, confidence improvement, behaviour change or any specific academic outcome.

Parent and guardian responsibility

  • Assess tutor suitability before starting or continuing tuition.
  • Supervise tuition arrangements involving school students.
  • Confirm fees, timing, location, class frequency and demo terms before proceeding.
  • Provide a safe and appropriate learning environment at home.
  • Use independent judgement before relying on website content, messages or tutor statements.

Right to refuse or stop service

Gyan Setu may refuse, pause, restrict, suspend, remove, block or stop service or communication for any parent, student, tutor applicant or tutor where we believe there is false information, abusive behaviour, unsafe conduct, non-cooperation, misuse of contact details, repeated disputes, harassment, spam, legal risk, payment issue, policy violation, reputational risk or any other reason that may harm Gyan Setu, students, parents, tutors or the public.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Gyan Setu will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive or remote losses, including loss of marks, loss of opportunity, exam failure, emotional distress, tutor cancellation, schedule disruption, parent-tutor dispute, fee disagreement, third-party platform failure, message delivery issue, loss of data, or conduct of independent tutors or users outside Gyan Setu's reasonable control.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Indemnity

Parents, guardians, students where applicable, tutor applicants and tutors agree to protect and compensate Gyan Setu, its owners, representatives and service partners from claims, losses, complaints, damages, penalties, costs or expenses arising from false information, misuse of contact details, unsafe conduct, breach of these terms, violation of law, unauthorised sharing of another person's information, tutor-parent disputes, fee disputes, or actions outside Gyan Setu's reasonable control.

Privacy

Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Gyan Setu collects, uses, shares, stores and protects parent, student, tutor, communication and website data.

Information we may collect

  • From parents or guardians: name, WhatsApp number, phone number, class, board, subjects, locality, preferred timing, learning need, communication history and details voluntarily shared.
  • About students: class, board, subjects, academic requirement, approximate area, preferred schedule and parent-provided learning notes relevant to tuition.
  • From tutor applicants: name, phone number, WhatsApp number, email if shared, subjects, classes, areas, availability, qualification, experience, references or verification details where reasonably required.
  • From website use: IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, referring source, server logs, cookies, analytics, error logs and security logs.

Information we do not normally ask for

Gyan Setu does not normally ask parents or students to share Aadhaar, PAN, bank details, card details, passwords, UPI PIN, medical records, biometric data or unrelated family information through the website or normal WhatsApp enquiry flow.

Users should not send unnecessary sensitive information. If such information is sent without request, Gyan Setu may delete it, ignore it, restrict it, or retain it only where necessary for safety, legal, dispute or compliance reasons.

Why we use information

  • To understand tuition requirements and respond to enquiries.
  • To identify and coordinate suitable tutor options.
  • To communicate with parents, guardians, tutor applicants and tutors.
  • To share relevant requirement details with tutors and relevant tutor details with parents.

Consent and lawful processing

When a user voluntarily contacts Gyan Setu, submits an enquiry, sends a WhatsApp message, applies as a tutor, shares information or continues communication, the user consents to Gyan Setu processing the information for the purposes described in this policy.

For student-related information, the parent or lawful guardian providing the information confirms that they are authorised to share it and consent to processing for tuition coordination, safety, communication and related service purposes.

Withdrawal of consent may affect our ability to coordinate tuition, process applications, respond to requests or maintain service records. Withdrawal does not affect lawful processing already carried out or information retained for legal, safety, dispute, compliance or business record purposes.

Sharing of information

  • With tutors: class, subject, board, approximate area, timing, learning need and parent contact details where required for discussion, scheduling or coordination.
  • With parents or guardians: tutor name, subjects, classes, areas, availability, qualification, experience, fee expectation and contact details where required for selection or communication.
  • With service providers: hosting, analytics, communication, storage, form handling, security, technical support, legal or professional service providers as reasonably required.
  • With authorities or advisors where required by law, court order, police, government request, dispute handling, safety review, legal defence or protection of rights.

Retention and records

Gyan Setu may retain enquiry records, tutor application records, communication records, complaint records, safety notes, payment-related notes, website logs and internal records for as long as reasonably necessary for service, safety, legal, dispute, compliance, fraud prevention, accounting, audit, business continuity or legitimate operational purposes.

Deletion requests will be reviewed, but some information may be retained where permitted or required for legal obligations, safety review, dispute resolution, enforcement, business records, backups, technical logs or protection of Gyan Setu's rights.

Security and third-party platforms

Gyan Setu takes reasonable technical, organisational and operational steps to protect information. However, no website, internet transmission, phone network, WhatsApp message, email service, cloud service or storage system is completely secure.

When users communicate through WhatsApp, phone, browser, email, hosting provider, social media or any third-party platform, that platform's privacy policy, security practices and retention rules may also apply. Gyan Setu does not control third-party platforms and is not responsible for their independent data handling.

Parents

Parent and Guardian Guidelines

These guidelines set expectations for parents using Gyan Setu to seek home tuition support for a student.

Accurate enquiry details

  • Share the correct class, board, subjects, locality, preferred timing and learning need.
  • Do not submit false enquiries or another person's contact details without authority.
  • Do not share unnecessary sensitive information about the student or family.
  • Tell Gyan Setu if the requirement, timing, area or contact number changes.

Final decision remains with parent

Gyan Setu may suggest or coordinate tutor options, but the parent or guardian is responsible for deciding whether to speak with, meet, start, continue, pause or stop tuition with any tutor.

Parents should ask relevant questions, assess comfort, discuss fees, understand teaching style and supervise initial interactions before finalising any arrangement.

Home tuition supervision

  • A parent, guardian or responsible adult should remain aware of tuition timing and location.
  • For school students, avoid arrangements where the family has no visibility.
  • Prefer a visible, appropriate study area at home.
  • Keep student communication study-related and parent-aware.

Reporting problems

Parents should inform Gyan Setu promptly about repeated absence, unsafe behaviour, false claims, fee disputes, misuse of contact details, poor conduct or any concern involving a tutor or tuition arrangement.

Tutors

Tutor Guidelines and Undertaking

These rules protect Gyan Setu, parents and students by setting clear professional obligations for tutor applicants and tutors.

Independent status

By applying or accepting an enquiry through Gyan Setu, the tutor understands that they are an independent tutor or independent service provider unless a separate written agreement states otherwise. Application or enquiry sharing does not create employment, partnership, agency, franchise or guaranteed work.

Truthful information

  • Tutors must provide truthful name, contact, subjects, classes, areas, availability, qualification and experience details.
  • Tutors must not exaggerate degrees, school links, results, experience, identity, location, fees, language ability or board expertise.
  • Gyan Setu may ask for supporting information or stop working with a tutor if information appears false, incomplete, unsafe or misleading.

Contact and data use

  • Parent and student information received through Gyan Setu may be used only for the relevant tuition enquiry.
  • Tutors must not sell, share, screenshot, forward, publish, store for unrelated use, spam or misuse contact details.
  • Tutors must not directly market unrelated services to parents or students without permission.
  • Tutors must not bypass agreed Gyan Setu communication or service rules where such rules are communicated.

Professional conduct

  • Keep student communication study-related and parent-aware.
  • Do not request unnecessary personal details, private access or unrelated information from students or families.
  • Do not make false promises about marks, ranks, admissions or exam success.
  • Immediately report safety concerns, parent disputes or unusual situations to Gyan Setu where relevant.

Removal and restriction

Gyan Setu may reject, pause, restrict, remove or stop referring a tutor for false information, parent complaints, unsafe behaviour, misuse of data, repeated cancellations, poor communication, fee disputes, policy violation, reputational risk or any reason Gyan Setu considers harmful to its service, users or business interests.

Student Safety

Student Safety Policy

This policy sets safety-first rules for tuition involving school students, especially students below 18 years of age.

Parent-led service

Gyan Setu's service for school students is intended to be initiated and managed by parents or lawful guardians. Students should not independently submit private information, arrange tuition, meet tutors or continue private communication without parent or guardian knowledge.

Safety expectations

  • Tuition should happen in a safe, known and parent-approved environment.
  • A responsible adult should know the tutor's arrival time, class duration and study location.
  • Parent or guardian should remain reachable during tuition.
  • Communication with students should remain study-related and parent-aware.
  • Any conduct affecting student safety, privacy or dignity should be reported promptly.

Action on safety concerns

Gyan Setu may pause tutor coordination, restrict tutor access, preserve records, contact the parent, ask for clarification, remove a tutor, stop service, or take any other reasonable step if a student safety or serious conduct concern is reported or suspected.

Fees

Fees, Payment and Refund Policy

This policy reduces disputes by separating direct parent-tutor payments from amounts actually received by Gyan Setu.

Fee discussion is case-by-case

Home tuition fees may depend on class, subject, board, number of days, class duration, travel area, timing, tutor availability, experience and learning requirement. Gyan Setu does not guarantee a fixed fee unless confirmed for a specific arrangement.

Direct payment to tutor

If a parent pays a tutor directly, that payment arrangement is primarily between the parent and tutor. Gyan Setu may assist with communication where practical, but is not automatically responsible for refunds, receipts, tax, cash handling, online transfer errors or private fee arrangements made directly between parent and tutor.

Amounts received by Gyan Setu

If Gyan Setu charges or receives any service fee, registration fee, facilitation fee, subscription fee or other amount in the future, the applicable payment and refund terms will be communicated for that specific payment. Refunds, if any, apply only to amounts actually received by Gyan Setu and not to private payments made directly to tutors unless Gyan Setu expressly agrees in writing.

Completed services and disputes

  • No refund is normally due for completed classes, completed coordination work, completed demo arrangements or service already used, unless Gyan Setu decides otherwise case by case.
  • Tutor absence, parent cancellation, schedule changes, dissatisfaction, academic performance or mismatch concerns will be reviewed based on available records and practical circumstances.
  • Gyan Setu may offer replacement coordination, partial adjustment, escalation support or no refund depending on the facts and any specific written terms applicable to the arrangement.

Records

Complaints, Disputes and Record Preservation

This policy allows Gyan Setu to preserve evidence and protect itself when disputes or safety concerns arise.

Complaint handling

Parents, guardians, tutor applicants and tutors may contact Gyan Setu about privacy concerns, tutor conduct, parent conduct, data misuse, communication issues, fee disputes, unsafe behaviour or other service complaints. Gyan Setu may ask for details, screenshots, dates, names, phone numbers or other references needed to understand the matter.

Records we may preserve

  • WhatsApp messages, call notes, form submissions, tutor applications and parent enquiries.
  • Tutor details, parent details, student requirement details and shared screenshots.
  • Internal notes, complaint history, service status, payment notes and safety reports.
  • Website logs, security logs and technical records where relevant.

Defensive retention

Gyan Setu may preserve relevant records even after a deletion, consent withdrawal or stop-communication request where retention is reasonably necessary for legal compliance, safety, fraud prevention, complaint review, dispute resolution, enforcement of policies, business records, accounting, audit, legal defence or protection of Gyan Setu's rights and reputation.

Important operational note
