Board answer writing

Help students write better board exam answers

Board marks improve when students write clear answers with keywords, steps, diagrams, neat presentation, and good time management.

Answer-writing habits that save marks

Step 1

Understand the question carefully

Students should underline command words like explain, define, compare, calculate, draw, or give reasons. This reduces off-topic answers.

Step 2

Start with the main point

The first line should directly answer the question. Long introductions waste time and may hide the correct point from the examiner.

Step 3

Use keywords from the chapter

Board answers should include textbook keywords, formulas, definitions, laws, steps, and important terms. Keywords help save marks.

Step 4

Show steps in maths and science

For numericals, write formula, substitution, units, working, and final answer. Marks often come from steps, not only the final result.

Step 5

Keep diagrams and headings neat

Use clear headings, spacing, labels, and diagrams where required. A neat answer is easier to check and usually looks more confident.

Step 6

Practise within time limits

Students should practise short and long answers with a timer. This improves speed, completion, and confidence before board exams.
